Based in Rochester, NY, Worksite Health Alliance of Greater Rochester (WHAGR) was founded in 2001 as a non-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting workplace wellness to help companies control the cost of health care in our community. WHAGR is an established wellness council. A new partnership has begun with the You're in Charge! ^sm Health Promotion Department at Preferred Care Health Plan in Rochester, NY. WHAGR collaborates with Preferred Care to help operationally enhance programming. This assistance allows WHAGR to provide regular "Well Workplace Universities", assist with the Well Workplace application, and to continually grow membership within the organization.

Membership has grown from 5 founding to over 70 members representing more than 25,000 employees.
 

History of the Work Site Health Alliance of Greater Rochester

2002 - Worksite Health Alliance (WHA) partnered with the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo to form a 501c3 organization.

2003 - WHA partnered with Wellness Councils of American (WELCOA).

2005 - WHA changed its name to Worksite Health Alliance of Greater Rochester. Preferred Care assumes main sponsorship duties to help organize the WHAGR infrastructure.

2005 - New York State awards WHAGR with a Grant.

2008 - WHAGR becomes an independent Worksite Wellness Organization providing a focus on local resources and education.
